Unable to add esx host in VC license problem

Hello!

When I try to add an ESX to my VC I have this message:

There are not enough licences to perform the operation.

However in my licence file, on my license server I have added:

VC_ESXHOST and PROD_VC in my licence file...

In VIC connected to VC when I am in admin and licences tabs I can see license features: esx server standard 1 remaining 6 total

VMware consolidated backup 0 remaining 2 total

ESX server license type: nothing appears...

host configuration button is inaccessible.

Could you help me?

I put my two licenses in vmware.lic on my serv and I force re read from the server something else to do?

Thanks

Hello Alexaa,

1. On the host config tab check license feature.

\- License Sources -> VC Server

\- ESX Server license Type -> SET IT TO : ESX server standard.

\- Add ons change it to your needs.

2. Is the license file on the License Server "c:\program files\VMware\Vmware license Server\VMwareSoftware. there should only be one license file on the VC license server.

3. make sure the license file is downloaded from VMware website and don't edit it manualy.

4. Restart the license server service.

Bas

Thanks for your reply!

But I have 3 esx and now one VC and I have a dedicated license server. When I have installed VC I told it to use my server license... and it is like there is no license file.

Is it possible to use a dedicated license server with VC?

The license server works fine for my 3 esx hosts...

Thanks

It's no problem to use a dedicated License server.

On the server where you installed the license server, Look in to the LMtools (VMware License Tools) to see if there is a license file configured. On the utilities tab you can see at the bottom witch file is used.
