Trying to enable SFU, NFS Sharing tab does not appear.

Hi, I have a Windows Server 2003 R2, SP2 box. I would like to share a folder to be visible from my ESX hosts. I have enabled Microsoft Services for NFS (everything) and rebooted. However, when I right click a folder and choose properties, I am expecting to see an "NFS Sharing" tab. However, I only see the standard tabs. Can anyone tell me how I can get this going? Thanks.

Hello,

Check out http://www.astroarch.com/wiki/index.php/Setting_up_Windows_Services_For_UNIX_%28SFU%29_NFS. It covers non-R2, but how this works may help to explain why things are not showing up in R2. Certain services need to be running, etc.

Yes, it definitely appears to be a services issue. When I try to start User Name Mapping Service, I get the following error in event viewer:

The User Name Mapping service failed to start due to the following error:

The image file User Name Mapping is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine.

Ideas what this means? Thanks.

Hello,

Unfortunately no. I think it is time to hit Google or call in Microsoft. I think you may have the wrong SFU bits installed. Not the ones for R2?

Odd, I installed it directly from the control panel, using the same CD which I installed Windows with. Sadly google hasn't been much use. I guess I'll call Microsoft and see what happens.

Thanks.
