I have tested Clustering..

Is it normal to have a timeout on the Guest OS during the relocation of vm?

I have two ESX hosts clustered.. I shutdown the ESX1 and ping the Guest OS1.. There is a timedout although I can confirm that VM relocates to other ESX host.. For how long is the donwtime?

I take it you mean testing HA? It'll take 15 seconds for the host to be flagged as down and then your VM will be restarted on the other host: so however long it takes to start your VM + 15 seconds or so. I'm about to do some testing on this myself so I will see if this theory is correct. How long is it actually taking for you?
