Test plan/cases around ESX 3.5 installations

Guys,

I am a newbie working on a server virtusaliation project where i am required to prepare a test plan with some test scenarios and test cases to confirm installation of ESX 3.5 on new datacenter servers.

As i dont have experience and much exposure , would someone be kind enough to provide some material that i can use for this purpose.

Any help or advise is much appriciated.

Can you be a little more specific about what you are looking to confirm and or check. Installation is pretty straight forward. It is the post configuration that really matters. Setting up networking, time, permissions ect

hmmm..i need test cases that i can document , give it to client and someone from client side (ofcourse techie person) can test ESX 3.5 on server ..test cases like checking configurations, network connectivity , security rights , storage etc etc can be tested ? like ...test case might be - login to server - open abc - confirm if all services have been started etc etc ..somethign like that...hope that does not confuses much...:(

Hmmm ok I have a good starting point for you to check out. Tripwire has a free utility that checks a lot of this and is worth checking out.
