Syntax to create a new VM using vCLI

I am using few ESX 3.5 servers and one vCenter 2.5 server in my lab. I have installed vCLI in vCenter server. I would like to know the command to create a new VM through vCLI. Use the below detail to provide the syntax / command.

  • VM Name - windows2003
  • CPU - 2
  • Memory - 2096 MB
  • ESX Name - esxserver1
  • Storage - 30 GB C drive and 40 GB D drive (These two has to be placed in centralized storage. i.e., datastore name is - "filer1.lun123"

Expecting more details.

Thanks,

Ganesh

The vCLI commands are primarily used for host configurations, though as part of the vCLI installation, you also get set of vSphere SDK for Perl Utilities - http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/viperltoolkit/viperl41/doc/vsperl_util_index.html which provide additional canned scripts, one of which allows you to create a simple set of VMs using vmcreate.pl script. There is an example on how to use a script
