Studying need few confirmations please

Hi, am studyi8ng towards VCP and wanted few suggestion on what is right as am confused.

1. The new round-robin multipathing, what true about it, can i have 1, 2 or 4 paths for round robin. Any ideas?

2. Also with regards to NAS storage. whats true of running vm in NAS storage.

The NAS file share must use NFS

Virtual machines cannot be placed on NAS storage

RDMs residing on a NAS file share must be placed in physical compatibility mode

The RDM for a virtual machine (if used) cannot reside on the NAS file share.

3. User wants to install an optional component to increase Service Console memory, upon

installation, which partition would the user to increase as well?

B. /Boot

C. Swap

D. VMFS

4. Which of the following product's image can be converted into Virtual Machine Format

(OVF)?

A. VMware ESX 3.5

Hi chrisnasah,

1) in my opinion you can use round-robin multipathing for 2 or 4 paths.. 1 path makes no sense.

2) you cannot use use RDM's on NAS and you can place virtual machines on the NAS storage.

So the answer in my opinion should be "The NAS file share must use NFS"

Thanks i have added 2 more questions to it.

If for round robin what would be the best selction if something like that did come in exam, 2 or 4.

for Nas question so if i had to choose 2 answers that would be NAS file must use NFS and RDM for VM if used cannot reside in NAS file share right?

1) i guess they aim on 2 paths for round robin.

One more. If virtual centre is installed in a virtual machine which is part of HA/DRS and the host it resides on goes down (poer outage). What happens?

Does it get moved to a different host?

VC cant reside on VM

All DRS cluster operations will be unavailable until esx host brought back up or

virtual centre will stay offline , but all vm's in remaining host will continue running.

Is it right to say if VC goes down no DRS/HA/Vmotion so in this case VC will be down and others can continue normally until someone manually brings it up?? Or will HA still work

No it is possible to run VC in a VM - HA will still function since the failover functoionality is pushed down to the ESX hosts - so while the VC VM is restarting you will not have DRS or VMotion finctionality - once the VC VM has restarted you will have all duntionality restored
