Stuck - VC Tasks states VM being powered on...

I have a VM that the VC states is in the process of being powered on yet it's not being powered on. You cannot power it on when connected to the VC. (The power button is not active.) If I connect my VI client directly to the ESX server I can power on or off the VM and everything looks fine. I have restarted the VC and the SQL server it is connected to. The task list is stuck saying the VM is being powered on and I can't edit the configuration on power on the VM.

I had a similar issue, you say you restarted the VC and the SQL server, do you mean a reboot? if this is the case then i had the same and odd as it seems having rebooted it was a restart of the Virtual Centre Server Service that cured the problem.
