Hi all,
i have a strange case
all of the virtual machines in one of the ESX 3.0 server went down suddenly
i checked all the events, can;t see anything wrong
so can you give a clue, or what shall i checked.
Many thanks
If you have HA configured check for the connection between cluster nodes and if that host can reach the default gateway all the time. By default the "Isolation Address" policy of HA is "Power Off" the virtual machines when the ESX Host cant reach another cluster node or the defaut gateway.
Thanks for your replaying, but actually No, I don't have HA configured.
Regards
We had this happen after a power failure. All hosts came back up but VM's were down. We have not done any reconfig yet to avoid this but we plan to.
Hello,
You could post your logs or have a look in them to get some root cause info.
On the ESX host there are found in.
cat /var/log/vmware/vpx/vpxa.log (Virtual center agent)
cat /var/log/vmkernel (The vmware kernel)
cat /var/log/vmware/hostd.log (VM host daemon)
