Screen of death, ESX3.5 U4

Perform testing ESX3 U4 on server: Intel S5000PAL, 2x Xeon E5440, 32Gb RAM and Adaptec SCSI RAID Controller and 3 SAS disks in RAID5.

Periodically occure "purple" screen of death. Picture attached. Is it hardware or software problem?

We just had one of our production boxes do the same thing last week. I collected all the logs (vm-support) and sent them off to VMware for an analysis. For me it appears to be a problem with the HBAs connecting to the SAN. If you can, I'd recommend having VMware review the logs just so you'll have a better idea what it is. My guess is it's hardware of some kind in your case.

Hi ., it would be mainly coz of hardware problem... I had a similar problem earlier and after updating the firmware , it got resolved. Can you check if all your firmware are upto date.

Memory and cooling OK. All firmware are latest.

Problem, seems to be solved. I just connect server to SAN Storage (YottaB) not directly but through Q-Logic SANBox Switch. Uptime 1 week.
