SVMOTION

Hello,

In my ESX 3.5 Console, I don't see any svmotion ?

Is there something to install ?

I tried too to install the plugin from lostcreation but when I start the storage vmotion via the GUI i've the following message : "The vmotion interface is not configure (or misconfigured) on the source host 'serveresx.toto'.

I can't find any documentation to install/active svmotion on esx 3.5

Thank you in advance

You need to download and install the "Remote CLI", you should find it in the download area....[http://www.vmware.com/download/download.do?downloadGroup=VI-RCLI]

You have to add a vmkernel to your NIC/Switch under networking. Did you read the guide in the ESX configuration to set this up?

In order to use sVmotion you have to use a SAN and the VM's must be shared among ALL the ESX hosts that utilzes sVmotion.

Hi There

You run the RemoteCLI as a VM. An alternative is to use this 3rd party developed FREE Storage VMotion product which you can download and read about at the following URL

Here's a good link for it:

Here's a step by step, too:

Regarding the error, do you have a VMkernel port configured, with VMotion enabled?
