SSH to ESX Server 3i 3.5.0?

Hello,

I am trying to install some HP agents onto ESX Server 3i 3.5.0 build-207095.  To do this I need to get ssh access and to do this I believe I need to create a user on the ESX server and tick the box to ‘Grant shell access to this user’ however when I create a user this box is just not there, does anyone know why this is?

So instead I tried to follow some other instructions to edit thesshd_config file via the console.  However I can’t even find the folder /etc/ssh or the file thesshd_config

What am I doing wrong?  Is it even possible to ssh to this version?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the quick replies.  I found the answer in one of the links you gave, I was looking for the wrong file I just had to edit the one below.   Cheers

  • edit /etc/inetd.conf (using vi)
  • remove the # (remark) sign in front of the SSH line
  • kill and restart the inetd process (or just reboot your server)
