I have two ESX servers with a trial version of 3.5. Can I not SSH into them like i used to 3.02 because this is a trial version? Or is SSH access no longer allowed in 3.5? Thank you.
It is disabled by default. You need to edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config to allow root access if that is what you are trying to do or create another non root account to use to connect with

sbeaver, thank you for your prompt reply. But when I open a SSH console into one of my ESX 3.5 servers I get "The host 'hostname' is unreachable", regardless of who I try to connect as.
Can you ping the host? Sounds like there's no connection to the SC. Verify that you can ping to and from the host. And also verify that you have your gateway setup correctly.
Also make sure the sshd service is running
Jwoods,
Yes I can ping to and from, the gateway is correctly setup. The name resolves through DNS correctly also, I can connect from my desktop to the VC. Our configurations are all the same as they where before we installed ver. 3.5, and now we cannot SSH.
Try this command from the shell
Service sshd restart
Please forgive my ignorance as I am a novice when it comes to VMWare (trying to learn for the past 3 months) :|. But I cannot open/establish a shell connection to the servers.
I think I have it figured out, I just noticed that I have ESX server 3i, 3.5.0, 6792. After some looking around I discovered that this particular version does not have a Service Console . And I guess therefore I cannot SSH into my two servers, gentlemen thank you very much for your assistance.
