SQL Server on upgrade 3.5

I upgrade my servers from ESX 3.02 to 3.5 and are now using VC to manage

them. However it seems like my MS SQL 2000/2005 VM are having a problem. The

SQL IP connection keeps dropping. I moved my critical SQL 2005 to a physical

machine until I get this worked out but I do have a SQL 2000 having the same

problem.

I did have a problem with my backup software I had to delete the

authorization.xml and let VMware recreate it now that works good.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Rick

If you don't have anymore 3.0.2 vm's anymore, upgrade the VMWare tools.

Is it 3.5 or 3.5 update 1 that you've upgraded to? When the SQL VMs disconnect do you still have host connectivity and are there other types of VMs that are unaffected by this problem? What sort of servers are you running and have you updated the firmware of the NICs lately? Also, are you able to rebuild one of the hosts from scratch?

I just did it last weekend with a fresh download I am pretty sure it is 3.5 Update 1.

Al other VM's working good and I do not have any problem connecting to the service console through the VC.

I have never upgraded the firmware on the NICs but the server the SQL 2000 is on now is almost new just a few months old.

Yes I can rebuild one of the host from scratch but I want to leave that as a last result.

Not 100% sure why but I think I got it working. For years I have been running on a non-standard port on the SQL server and I made a few changes and changed the port and everything seems to be working now. I will monitor it for the next several days.

Thanks everyone!!
