SCSI Disk error.

I'm getting the following error after VMware 3.5 was installed.

SCSI DISK ERROR: HOST 1 CHANNEL 0 ID 128 LUN 0 RETURN CODE-

8000000 CURRENT SD08:03: SENSE KEY NONE I/O ERROR: DEV 08:03, SECTOR 54496

Installed on an IBM x3950 without a RAID card. Running 2 SAS drives as JBOD.

The 2 SAS HDD's passed diagnostics.

Could this be a zoning issue with the fibre switches?

Any suggestions?

Hello,

Look in the /var/log/vmkernel for the messages around the one you mentioned. It should refer to a vmhba device or something you can map back to a controller and LUN. Once you do that you can determine which controller/LUN is the issue.

Thank you very much for the response. The error still occured with the Fiber cables unplugged. The sectors are not always the same in the error. We replaced the I/O board in this X460 to rule out the adaptec SAS controller. I will update with a reply if this resolved the issue. HDD diagnostics passed again.

It looks like VMware assigns id 128 and 129 to the local SAS drives. I've atached a screenshot while VMware was booting.

Thanks
