Repair SCSI / VFMS Drive on ESX 3.0.2

Hello VM experts,

Been running ESX 3.0.2 server with 2x VMs with no problems for the last 2 months, then today ran into a few weird problems that by the end, i concluded that it was probably an issue with the SCSI drive.

Basically, I have 1x Scsi drive connected via Dell PERC4e/DC Raid Controller, used as a stand-alone drive for a Data partition for my windows VM...After a few reboots and forcing the drive online via raid bios, initially loggin in to the VI client, the data store was recognize, however, when i tried to browse it, it return with an error.

So at this point, the ESX recognizes the disk but not the data...is there a utlity i can run to possibly salvage this disk, more importantly, salvaging the vmdk files?

I appreciate any help...and just a precursor, i'm a vm-neewbie

thanks in advance...

With a lost datastore your best option is to call support.

thanks for the response...i was hoping that my issue might of been ESX related and that there's a fix, but i'm sure it's completely disk hardware related...thanks again!

There aren't recovery tools like you would find for Windows. You can try to make some changes with the partition itself, but Oliver has given you the best advice possible especially if you really need to recovery something from the datastore. When you call them ask for a recovery specialist.
