Removing Datastore

Hi,

Trying to a VMware datasource but get the message that "Resource is in use", and therefore will not . I have one VM on server left that I moved on to another ESX so in theory it is empty. Both servers are using individual local SCSI as storage device.

Can any one please help me on that.

Thanks

Vaibhav

Is there datastore you are attempting to remove located on shared storage?

If you open the database (double click it from the datastore list) -- do you see any files or directories? If so, maybe these will offer a clue as to what is using it.

Run vmware-cmd -l and make sure nothing is registered with that datastore. Then rescan it, and then you should be able to delete it.

Sorry to revive an old post, I had this issue. It turned out there were some ISOs on the disk, there were active VMs with CD drives mapped to these ISOs. vmware-cmd -l did not display these files inuse. I had to check each VM individually. Once I had found them all, the datastore could be removed.
