RAW device mapping + SAN LUN round robin load balancing + VMOTION

hi guys!

seems that sometimes when i move a virtual machine with multiple raw device mappings and RR load balancing turned on to another ESX host, round robin gets and stays disabled, and 'fixed' is chosen as path policy.

this is extremely annoying as RR LB provides significant performance gains, and the change from RR to fixed goes unnoticed when DRS is enabled on the cluster.

is this a known bug and are there any workaround for this?

thx

Tom

At this poin RR is only experiementally supported - so potentially this could be a bug -

The settings for round robin is saved on the ESX-host and not in the VM. So it get lost, when you move the VM. When you move the VM to every host in your cluster and set round robin again, the problem is gone. Not very handy, but it works in my vSphere environment.

Please bear in mind, RR on ESX 3.5 is use for experimental only.

Please make sure RR path setup on all your ESX cluster datastores
