Quad port NICs not showing up on ESX3.0.2 configuration

We just received a Dell PowerEdge 2950 and installed ESX3.0.2update1 successfully but as we configure the new host server in VirtualCenter 2.0.2, we noticed that the only NICs we see are the two onboard nics...not the 4port nic card. Wanted to verify that this may be because the drivers are new for the card (came separately from Dell) and that we just need to install the new drivers on the server. The question is: do we do any configuration edits to ESX for these NICs?

Make sure that you check and verify that the 4 port NIC card is on the VM compatability matrix.

Thanks for the reply. can you tell me where I can find this compatibility matrix? I've been looking and have not found one that identifies what Quad Port Nics work with ESX 3.0.2

Is this an Intel 4 Port VT? If it is, it should show up but just so you know, there is a bug with the Quad Port VT and VLANs.

3.0.2 I/O guide is here: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_io_guide.pdf

page 24 starts the nic list.

I spoke to our Server Admin and he advises that the NIC is indeed an Intel VT Quad NIC. Can you shed a bit more information on the bug and how to resolve it or a location for more infor to help us resolve it. The server is on a VLAN

Sent a reply from my email but not sure if it worked.

I am not sure if your problem is related or not, but here is the thread on the bug
