Present 2 paths to one ESX and only one path to another. Is it supported ?

Hi,

I can not find information in VMWARE documentations which state if it is possible to present 2 paths to connect a disk array to the ESX A and only one path to the same array to the ESX B.

Thx,

JFR

it is possible, but you should do that on your switches (in zoning) not on esx.

Thanks for your prompt response Smiley Happy

In fact, I have one ESX connected to the array with direct attach and a second link through a FC switch, and the other ESX connected through the FC switch. I don't know if this mixed environnement is supported ?

Thx,

JFR

be very very carefull about this. I ended up slowing down our entire VMinfrastructure by doing this.

You need to make sure that all path on the SAN are te the same on all hosts if you are planning on doing this, otherwise you will end up with LUN trashing. Put fixed path or use active active HBA.
