Does anyone know if VMWare support installing UPS Shutdown software on the Service Console on ESX 3.0.1. ?

Or any other UPS shutdown software?

If Yes how?

Just received a copy of Scripting VMware in the mail and there is an entire chapter devoted to this! Very up to date as well - even mentions 3.01!!!

It's chpt 8 I believe, right Steve? Smiley Happy

I've just been to the APC website and they have recently released PowerChute Network Shutdown v2.2.1 for VMWare 2.5.3/3.0.1 on the 15th of November. Its is an RPM file and I haven't had a go at installing it yet. I haven't been able to find any documentation about installing it on VMware so has anyone else seen this update and tried to install it?

Hi,

I've checked the download section but I cannot seem to find the VMware related downloads?

Am I overlooking something?

If you select Software Upgrades- Powerchute Network Shutdown from the Filter By List and then press continue on the next page where it says PowerChute Network Shutdown v 2.2.1. You will then see PowerChute Network Shutdown v2.2.1 for VMWare 2.5.3/3.0.1.

Or Try this link

Ok, PowerChute Network Shutdown works on ESX, but what about an APC UPS that's connected through a serial port?

I tried to configure it but it fails to connect to the management card.

I opened the ports 80 out and 3250 in

do I need to make any other modification to the esx firewall ?

thanks

Sorry to revive an old thread, but me too.

Single server, with connected APC UPS via serial port. How do I get my host and guests to shut down gracefully.
