Power on task won't complete

I have an ESX 3.0.2 and VI 2.0.2. There is a "power On Virtual Machine" task listed in recent tasks. It has been "In Progress" since thursday. In the VM's summary tab the state is listed as "Powered Off" and the "Power on" kommand button is replaced with the power off button. If I log onto the ESX directly the VM is powered off and is not beeing powered on, nd I have the power on option.

How can I remove the power on task from the VI or make it complete the task?

Hello,

Instead of restarting the VC Server\Service you can issue the following on the service console of the affected ESX host: service mgmt-vmware restart

That will restart the management service on the ESX host and sync up with your VC server.

Hope that helps!

Use the Virtual Infrastructure Client to access the ESX host directly and you should be able to start the "hung" VM.
