Performance: %CPU usage of all VM's in 1 chart

Hello,

we are evaluating some VM performance on an ESX 3.0.1 server that is a Biproc Quadcore.

The 4 VM's are all Windows 2003 Standard Ed. SP1 with 2 virtual CPU's.

We are trying to predict if our config will be ok for future heavy load.

Now, let us look in VirtualCenter, Performance of an ESX, CPU chart options:

Chart type: Stacked Graph (Per VM)

Objects: all the VM's

Description: CPU usage (Average/Rate)

When one looks then at the chart, you see 100 percent on the Y axis.

Is this 100% of the VM, where the 100% is the maximum CPU that that one VM can possibly have (so the sum of the 2 virtual CPU's that have been allocated to that VM) ?

If this is the case, I would really like to know where I can find a chart that shows me the %CPU that all the VM's are using of the grand total of the ESX server (all 8 cores).

This way, we can know how high the sum of the %CPU usage of all the VM's is. And then start to predict if future load is going to be ok.

I hope my question is clear :]

Regards,

Bart

Try vizioncore. They have a product called ESX Charter, it will give you ALL the information you need across ALL your ESX servers.

This is a purchase product, but you can try it for 30 days.

Hmm, I don't think we can spend money on this.

This seems very basic to me. It should be in VC, no ?
