Pegasus Failure during boot and restart pegasus service

During boot I get the following errors. Everything seems to be working fine but I would like to get rid of the error.

Any suggestions as far as troubleshooting?

Processing /var/pegasus/vmware/install_queue/1

ERROR: See log - /var/pegasus/vmware/install_queue/1.log

This can be ignored it is a timing issue. We recently had VMware re-review this issue. It is a problem with CIMOM startup timing. VMware stated that it can for now be safely ignored. The issue often occurs when same other entity is referencing CIMOM, hardware agents for example, and CIMOM server is busy. As long as cimserverd process is up, when reboot/start up is complete, you should be fine.

You might want to take a look at this:

http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2008/04/28/pegasus-error-after-installing-esx-35-update-1/

An individual in here found out how to fix the issue, this was after going to 3.5 U1, I'm not sure if this is your case.

The fix worked for me expept files were in 1_files directory instead of 3_files....

Thanks Mike Laspina for finding the issue so fast!

The pegasus problems seems to be fixed after updating to ESX3.5 Update 2

We are experiencing the same problem, but the solution presented here did not help. We are currently running, I believe, Update 2 with some post-U2 patches. The build number is 120512.

When the Pegasus service starts up, we see the same error message that people here have been noticing:

Processing /var/pegasus/vmware/install_queue/1

ERROR: See log - /var/pegasus/vmware/install_queue/1.log

Processing /var/pegasus/vmware/install_queue/1

ERROR: See log - /var/pegasus/vmware/install_queue/1.log

Starting Pegasus CIMOM (cimserver)...

Upon examining the 1.log file, I see a lot of entries like this:

MOF Compiling /var/pegasus/vmware/install_queue/1_files/regs/swid_PegReg.mof

/var/pegasus/bin/cimmof: /lib/libpam.so.0: no version information available (required by /var/pegasus/lib/libpegcommon.so.1)

MOF Compiling /var/pegasus/vmware/install_queue/1_files/regs/vmware_PegReg.mof

/var/pegasus/bin/cimmof: /lib/libpam.so.0: no version information available (required by /var/pegasus/lib/libpegcommon.so.1)

Done.

These are just hte last few lines of the file, but there are a lot of those lines. VMware support is currently trying to help us out, but if anyone here has any ideas, I'm all eyes!

Thanks!

I am seeing the same thing running U3 and the cimservera patch where the fix did not solve the problem. Getting lots of these in the 1.log:

/var/pegasus/bin/cimmof: /lib/libpam.so.0: no version information available (required by /var/pegasus/lib/libpegcommon.so.1)

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Thanx,

Matt
