Patching Server

Hi, I am running VI35 build 226117. The newest patch is 280000 something build. Do I need to apply the patches one by one from my current build until the lastest patch in order to bring the server up-to-date or I just need to aplly the latest patch? Thx.

Check out the best practices:

It sounds to me that this is a rollup or an update - if that is the case then it will install the other bugfixes and such.

I suppose that you haven't a vCenter Server (otherwise you can simple use VUM).

In this case you can download the patches from the VMware site and use esxupdate to install them.

Host must be in maintenance mode to apply patches (and may need a reboot)... So you have to plan a downtime.

Thank guys.

I don't have license for vCenter server. I used esxupdate to update it to update 2. I will apply update 5a then next patches.
