PSOD with QLogic and ESX 3.5 U3 w/ Post-U3 Patches

All,

I'm getting a PSOD after installing the 3.5 post-Update 3 patches. Update 3 by itself works just fine. Below is the hardware config. Latest BIOS and firmware revisions for all:

IBM x3650

2x Intel X5355 CPUs

2x QLogic 4050C iSCSI HBAs

2x Intel Pro/1000 PT Dual Port NICs

If I disable the PCI slots the QLogic HBAs are in (PCI Slots 1 & 2) the server boots fine and no PSOD. As soon as I re-enable the slots it's back to PSOD.It says "No place on disk to dump data", but vmkcore is configured...

Thoughts?

Thanks!!

Hello,

I would verify that the QLogic device AND your host are at the proper firmware and BIOS levels. THis has been the case for some PSOD I have gotten.

You may want to upgrade or downgrade per the HCL which often lists required firmware versions for PCI IO devices.
