No data from HP insight Agents?

I've installed the 7.70 Insight agents on two DL 585s.

The good news is they haven't seemed to cause any issues.

The bad news is they provide no information about the hardware. The system model on the management web page is NULL and there are no entries for any of the hardware categories.

Anybody else have this problem and found how to fix it?

Last week I installed on a dl385, did you let the script setup snmp for you.

Is this on your SIM server or using the local system management home page?

Check for the status of the hpasm agents by running the command service hpasm status[/b] from the console.

If you see that the sub-agents are not running, try and do a service hpasm restart[/b]. This might resolve the issue.

Service status result:

hpasmd is running... \[ OK ]

Status of Foundation Agents (cmafdtn):

Status of Server Agents (cmasvr):

Status of Storage Agents (cmastor):

It's' the same after a restart.

It's been a while I honestly don't remember.

Maybe I should reinstall.

Are communications blocked between the host and Insight server? (ESX or other Firewall?)

Also, is there a way to send a test trap just to see if that goes through? I know in Windows you can but I'm not familiar with the agents in ESX...

SNMP is allowed by the ESX Firewall.

Are you sure? I haven't changed the config on my 3.01 server from default and the SNMP Server service is unchecked..

I haven't tried to use it yet because I'm just testing right now so I'm not sure what that means....

I saw that also sometimes (HP DL 380 G4 or G5 and HP SIM Agent 7.70). I also deinstall / install the agent (silent installation with response file - so completely same installation as before) and then it works.

If you encounter it again try adding these entries to your snmpd.conf file (if you haven't already) and then recycle snmpd:

master agentx

dlmod cmaX /usr/lib/libcmaX.so
