Nic's not displaying 3.5

Hi All,

I have built an 3.5 ESX box and added in a new 4 port NIC. But when I have restarted the box it only shows as one network adapter not as 4.

Any ideas?

Cheers

What kind of NIC are we talking about here?

check is your NIC compatible with ESX, maybe you should update drivers.

i have no experience with this device but it looks like you have one internal port (uplink) and four external, that is why you see only one nic.

i think you will always see one nic in esx

it is switch and you have one port for Proliant that host it and four for other devices

Hi,

A switch adapter is not preferable in ESX. It does not deliver extra bandwidth, nor does it add failover capacity. Wouldn't you be better off using a true quad port Gbit adapter?

Yes it is preferable. I had this card given to me and didnt realise it was a switch not a nic. I have changed this for a true 4 port nic and all is fine now.

Thanks for you help everyone!
