Either you're in the wrong thread or you should stop using HP agents on IBM boxes! ;^P

I've loaded one test machine with this with no issues yet.

The real question is whether to let 7.8.0 'settle down' for a bit (I am building 21 new VI-3 Hosts) or go with 7.7.0 now and upgrade later down the road .

I still get that 'beware of falling objects' feeling when dealing with HP and ESX - kind of like the kid who found out for the first time how hot that neat glowing red light (oven top burner) really is... Smiley Happy

I'll admit that I might be suffering from over-criticism here but the agents are the first thing I suspect whenever there is an 'issue' with ESX.

Yeah those new 3rd party agents on the SC make me nervous. I think I'll wait a while since I have no issues with the current agents, like the old adage "If it ain't broke don't fix it"

Sticking with 7.7.0 here. Over 120 HP blades.

Well....for grins I deployed 7.8.0 to one of my new BL460C blades and via https://server:2381 I received ZERO information (no server info was showing up).

This is different than partial info showing up which we have seen in the past (i.e. the value 'NULL' for server name). That issue was solved by adding the following to the snmpd.conf file:

master agentx

dlmod cmaX /usr/lib/libcmaX.so

So...tried a few things to get info to show up with 7.8.0 and no luck. In the interest of time I uninstalled 7.8.0 and installed 7.7.0 and the latter is working fine.

At this point I'm not going to bother troubleshooting HP's software yet again and will put 7.7.0 out on these 21 new hosts for now.

Can you please post your snmpd.conf file after installation of 7.8.0 IM Agents ?

Installed the mgmt agents successfully unfortunately it did break my ESXReplicator jobs =[

I've gone back to 7.7.0 and all is good.

Interesting that the release notes for ESX 3.0.2 says they now support 7.8. Did that mean 3.0/3.0.1 did not support them then...

Support for new versions of management agents including:

  • Dell Open Manage 5.2

  • HP Insight Manager Agents 7.8

We're building out some new hosts, using 3.0.2, and getting this when installing 7.7.0 agents:

"Installer does not support the VMware ESX Server version"

Not much choice I guess...
