Hi All
I got a problem on the ESX server, when i set the vlan to the vSwitch, the host will down and VC cannot be reached, after i reset the vlan = 0 then it becomes normal.
The physical switch is should be fixed. Can anyone help to set the vlan without problems.

ESX will only be able to successfully use vLAN's which the physical port ESX is connected to, can see.
e.g. if your physical port can see vLAN 1 and you configure a port group in ESX to communicate over vLAN 2, that port group will not work, unless you change the configuration of the port to be able to access that vLAN or configure it to be a trunk
is the port which is used by ESX on the physical switch configured to be a trunk?
NO just a single port
The pSwitch port needs to be configured as a trunk, otherwise when you configure your vSwitch's port group to go across a vLAN that the pSwitch port cannot connect to, you will not be able to access anything connected to that port group
Hi,
If the port on the switch has been set to a specific VLAN you don't enter vlan in your portgroup in ESX.
If the port is a trunk port you get the ability to enter the VLAN id in the portgroup in ESX.

HI
The vSiwtch only shows the ip address only if there is pswitch is configured in vlan already, not the vlan id, right
and why in the Map only shows 1 vSwitch not others
Best regards
If you change the pSwitch port from a specific vLAN to a trunk and configure the port group to a specific vLAN you connectivity should not be interupted and you will be able to create another port group on a different vLAN
