Network connectivity not available to VMs

I recently had an issue where not Service Console and VMotion network went offline. The vSwitches for the vNICs did not go offline. HA shutdown all nodes after this occurred.

Once we brought the pSwitches back online, we were able to bring up the virtual machine. Curiously, none of the virtual machine can see the network if they reside on node #2. I can VMotion them to another node and network connectivity returns.

Is there a way to ping through the NIC teamed for VM vNIC traffic? From the ESX console, can you tell if they are offline? Or errors?

Thanks,

Mike

I might be way over the top here but you could create a VMkernel port on the team based virtual switch with a valid IP address for the subnet, then use 'vmkping <ipAddress>' and this will use the VMkernels routing table, and the VMkernel port to ping out of the team.
