Network card IS SUPPORTED yet the Install says that it did not find any supported network cards?

Hello,

I am trying to install vmware 3.5.0 Update 3 into a server that has an Intel DG31GL motherboard, whose network card IS SUPPORTED according to vmware http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/detail.php?device_cat=io&device_id=5726

Yet the install does not continue stating that there aren't any supported network devices

Help please

That motherboard has a 82562G not a 82562 as per the VMware link you provided. Maybe the version difference is what's causing the issue. Also are you sure you're on VMware ESX 3.5 and not ESXi 3.5 as I don't see that NIC listed under ESXi at all.

I am pretty sure its vmware Infrastructure 3.5.0 U3 ESX - heres the filename (kept the same as when I downloaded from vmware):

esx-3.5.0_Update_3-123630.iso

The # is a DEVICE FAMILY it seems:

http://developer.intel.com/design/network/products/lan/controllers/82562.htm

Should work on all...

is there anyway for me to get a force e100 driver to load?

I downloaded ESX Driver e1000 (1000mbps card same family of Intel) but didnt work, NOT DETECTED error again.

I know how to get to "esx driverdisk" mode but I dont have a driver disk for e100!

according to this, driver e1000 should make it work.

Maybe you can download the driver from 3rd party site and make your own disk? e1000 definitely works as I have a few running here though most of mine are HP/Broadcoms.
