I just finish to update my clusters. from ESX3.01 to 3.5U4. with the ESXupdate update (ZIP).
Now, I would like to install the VMware tools in the guest machines with any downtime fo the gues Machines installed on the Hosts.
1-So, what is the process: Right click on the Virtual Machine in the Virtual Center Client and choor the Automatic option?
2-Should I have to download the ISO and mount that to the Host and start the first option: Right click and choose the automatic one?
Thanks

because the VMware Tools update a bunch of drivers, and one of the being the NIC, you will lose connectivity for a moment. However, it you do an automatic upgrade, the VM will reboot most likely. You can always do a manual install and say no to the reboot.
There are probably PowerShell scripts out their that can force the no reboot option and you may have luck finding them at the VMware vSphere™ PowerCLI Forum.
Also, you may want to look at RVTools
But I would like to know if I have to download the ISO ESX 3.5U4 and mount that to the Host?

no, you can just click on your virtual machines tab, select the VM's right click "Install/Upgrade Tools" . Assuming the all have virtual cd/dvd drives, they tools will mount automatically and the install process will proceed. However, like I said, it will probably cause your VM's to reboot when the install is complete.
Are these all windows VMs?
