Multiple Service Console Ports and DNS

Hello All

Here's my setup:

1st physical NIC attached to one service console port on segment X

2nd physical NIC attached to another service console port on segment Y

If NIC 1 stops functioning, NIC 2 should resume SC functionality so HA will think the server is still back up. I know HA/SC relies heavily on DNS, so do I need to have explicit host entries in DNS for both SC IPs ?

Each SC port would have a different IP and it's best to keep them on different subnets. You'll only have one default gateway and VC will only connect to one SC port, but HA will use both. See the below thread.

No, because the service console is using a single IP address (usually).

Okay..im confused. Wouldnt each individual SC port have a different IP?...im not using a NIC team, im creating two seperate virual switches, each with a SC port...each virtual switch is on a different segment (eg. x.x.60.xxx and x.x.65.xxx)

This leaves me redundant in case of switch failure, as each segment (x.x.60.xxx, x.x.65.xxx) is on a seperate physical switch.

You could configure DNS to reference both the FQDN and DNS shortname, Not sure if VC will get confused mind.
