we currently have Virtual Infrastructure all setup and running. we are having to migrate to a new domain, ip range, etc. because of the way we are rolling this out we have setup a new Virtual Infrastructure setup and we want to move the ESX hosts over to the new VI setup as each project finishes.
when we move an ESX server from the old VI to the new VI all the templates no longer show up in the Virtual Machines tab for the ESX server. However when i look into the datastore (using datastore browser) i can see the templates are still there.
How can i get those templates to show up again in the new VI setup?
in the datastore browser when i attempt to add the vmtx file to the inventory i get an error stating "The operation is not supported on the object"
What is the best way to move an ESX server from on VI to another without losing all the templates and VMs?
