Anyone know if you can mount an iSCSI volume directly to the SC without formatting it with VMFS3 or making it into a Datastore? Specifically, I would like to do this with hosts that have QLogic iSCSI cards. I want a volume that I can copy VCBMounter created snapshots to without having the performance limitations of a VMFS filesystem.
The idea is to back up VMs with the VCB framework, then replicate that volume to another site. Finally, restore by mounting the iSCSI volume on DR site and run the recover script.
Thanks in advance.
Good thought. It's Equallogic (iSCSI only). I agree NFS would be much easier. I suppose I could create an openfiler VM, attach iSCSI directly, then serve up NFS to Service Console but that's more moving parts than I wanted. KISS...
Thx for the response!
