Monitoring ESX

Hi all

Do any of you have any recommendations regarding the monitoring of VMware ESX servers.?

Something which goes onto one screen or flips between ESX servers with host stat's (Up/Down VM's, Mem/CPU Usages and such)

Do anyone have a product they could recommend or can something be put together with afew perl/vm scripts

Basically we have several monitoring screens within our environment to keep a track on other applications/services.

You can install hardware management agents on the ESX server and configure SNMP. If monitored via Virtual Center you can also configure alarms etc. HP SIM, CA Spectrum etc all handle SNMP traps really well if they're configured to receive them from the ESX servers and Virtual Center. You'll need to register the VMware MIB's (not only the host but Virtual Center).

Several of the features you mentioned can be found by using the EXPORT LIST feature of VCenter, your needs may be different though.

I am running an eval copy of VEEAM Reporting, but I found that it gives me too much info with no way I can see to configure the data that is collected.

For a ready screen to display on a NOC display try out vmktree (vmktree.org) and unnoc (unnoc.org) as well as Nagios and a few others. HPSIM works quite well if you have the VMM license.
