Hi Community,
lately i´ve installed another esx in my network. Now i´m trying to migrate several machines from esx1 to esx2. But everytime i´ve tried this, i´ve got the message "The Operation is not allowed at the current state".I don´t have VMotion, so i´ve tried to move the machines downstated. Do i need vmotion for "cold" migration too ?? I don´t think so !! Or can it be a problem of licensing my esx servers as i mentioned in my other Discussion ??
Thanks a lot
Best Regards
Welcome to the forums - you do not need vmotion to cold migrate a VM but you do need virtual center and the hosts need to be approriately licensed for virtual center

i suspected that theres a problem with licensing. But i have given my VC/Licensing Server my new license, anyhow he always shows on the hosts "Licensed for 2 CPU´s". but it have to be 4 CPU´s. if i check the license file with the vmware license checker, it reports me correctly a license for 4 CPU´s. Any idea how that could be, or what would be wrong ???
Thanks
Hello,
now i know that licensing is not the cause of my migration problem, anyone an idea what else coud be wrong ?!??
