Maximum RAM for Windows 2008 standard edition

According to MS, Windows 2008 server 32 bit standard edition is supposed to have a 4GB limit for RAM.

I've assigned two of my W2k8 VM's 6GB of RAM, and they both recognize all 6GB of it. Does this make sense?

thanks!

Have you enabled PAE? If you have this is the reason you will be able to use the additional memory.

the point is the limit is 4GB why Microsoft would let that happen...if that was the case all people would buy standart which is much cheaper that enterprise or datacenter...

I know PAE is fpr systems that support more that 4GBand after adding more memory Win won't recognize it so you have to use PAE

are you sure you installed x32 bits and it's standart edition?

Its definately W2K8 standard, 32bit. See screenshot.

Although, upon closer inspection, It looks like its 'sees' the 6GB, but according to task manager, there is still only 4GB available.
