Lun / Device Reset on ESX3.5u1

Hi,

I stumbled upon this blog entry -> http://tinyurl.com/5wrlwl

So, I checked my ESX 3.5u1 hosts to find out that they have set by default:

Disk.UseDeviceReset=1

and

Disk.UseLunReset=1

Can someone explain to me what this is all about?

Does ESX 3.5u1 do both resets?

What is the recommended setting for vmfs stored on a FC-SAN environment?

Hi,

For the third question: VMware recommends for SAN multipath:

Disk.UseLunReset=1

Disk.UseDeviceReset=0

It is decribed in Fibre Channel SAN Configuration Guide, page 122: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/r35/vi3_35_25_san_cfg.pdf
