Looking for a cheap whtiebox motherboard

I have been searching this forum to determine which mobo I should get for building ESX 3.X on a whitebox; however, the mobo's most of the guys use here are quite expensive - approximately $300. Does anyone use any inexpensive motherboard (around $150) and of course, got ESX 3.x working?

I've used an Athlon 64 X2 3000+ with an ASUS M2N-E motherboard and it's worked well (with an adaptec SCSI card for storage). The motherboard is about £55, so $100 ish.
