Linux - Sysprep

I have not seen this for a while and I don't see anything on support, so I'll ask again.

Can Linux Redhat 5 be setup "Sysprep" when deploying from a template?

Thanks,

Sysprep is a special program for Windows, so it can not be applied to Linux. But Linux can be customized when deploying from template without any additional programs.

Sysprep is a windows tool for 2000, XP, and 2003. It has to be manually downloaded and setup.

Vista and 2008 dont use it, they have image customization built in.

Support for Linux is built into vCenter. Just create a base image and convert it to a template then deploy a customized VM from that. Ive not tried with RHEL5 myself but have done so several times with RHEL4 and it worked fine.

What version of vCenter are you using for RHEL5 template deployment. With 2.5u4 I get errors that customization is not supported.
