On ESX 2.x, I was able run the GUI installer for Liebert Multilink by using an XClient.
However, this approach fails under ESX 3.
I'm considering copying the files over, creating the links, and opening the firewall ports.
Has anyone tried this?
Any chance you figured this out? I am now looking to do the same thing.
Out of curiosity, what makes you favor a hosted app to perform shutdown versus centralization and remote command execution?
I have not gotten a solution to this yet. For production systems, we're sticking to ESX 2.5x, and for dev/test on ESX 3, we are just shutting down the guest OS's.
I suppose a centralized approach would work too. It's just a matter effort to produce and test a custom solution.
