Lab12 - Part4 - Cold Clone Powered-Off System (sequel)

Hi all,

Simple question. Trying to make sense of a few things:

The Converter admin guide states the following on the subject of customization (p. 57, step 3)

" Location of Sysprep Files - If the application has determined this location, the text edit box shows it. If this field is blank, you must specify a valid location before going to the next panel."

Q. What/which application is this referring to?

Regards,

Haven't read the converter manual but for Virtual Center template customization you also need sysprep. So maybe this may help:

You need the Microsoft sysprep-files which can be found on the Windows CD's in the support tools. The file is called deploy.cab and must be extracted in the c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware Virtual Center\sysprep.

You'll find a 1.1 and svr2003 and some other folders. Get Q257813 (sysprep update 1.1) of Microsoft's site; This will be okay for Windows 2000 syspreps but for Windows 2003 you need to have that specific cab-file extracted in the srv2003 folder.

Once those files are there, in VC the customization will no longer be gray. I assume the same for Converter.
