LUN expansion and ESX hosts

HI

I have a CX-320 EMC Clariion SAN. Within Navisphere i would like to expand a LUN capacity. I receive a warning:

"NOTE: Before changing the new LUN capacity, please be sure that any hosts attached to this volume can handle dynamic changes to volume size.

If you do not wish to change the capacity at this time, select "Current capacity" and click Next. You can increase the capacity later via the LUN Properties window.

To allocate the largest capacity possible, select "Maximum Capacity" .

To allocate a specific capacity, select "Other Capacity" and type in the value you want."

My question is: am i safe to assume that my ESXC hosts can handle dynamic changes to volume size?

I have seen posts confusing me.

Thanks

Hello,

ESX hosts will NOT accept this method to expand on a vmfs store. You must create an extent to do that but this is not a best practice method.

What is it specifically that you would like to accomplish?

Listen to Mr. Mike Smiley Happy ESX does NOT allow this method to expand a LUN, unless you are willing to wipe out the LUN.
