Joining a Cluster

I have 6 Dell 2950 ESX hosts. Four of the 2950s are clovertown and the other two are harpertown processors. All 6 2950s have spare the same SAN storage and networking is identical. I created a HA EVC Cluster. What is the process for joining an ESX host to a cluster? Do you drag and drop onto the cluster? Do you need to shutdown all the VMs on the ESX host prior to joining the cluster.

once you start adding more hosts into the cluster that error will go away.

right click on the cluster and choose "add host" or drag and drop your host onto the cluster.

Should the VMs be shutdown prior?

I tried. However, I found out with EVC enabled on the cluster it says all VMs need to be powered off to move the host into the cluster.

yes, for an EVC Cluster the VM's must be powered off to join initially.

Thanks. I have the ESX host in the cluster now. When I try and start a VM I get an error.

insufficient resources to satisfy configured failover level for ha

Is this because I only have one ESX host in the cluster. Can I override that if so?
