Iscsi connected storage / access from windows / backup

Hi there,

I have successfully created a cluster of ESX server all running VM images from a iSCSI LUN map on the networ. however to back this up i need to be able to access these images from a windows machine.

I have installed the windows iSCSI initiator on windows and successfully connected to it. however windows cant read the file system as its formated VMFS3.

Im only using standard backup software at the moment and was planning to shut the VM Manchines down on a night to do this. however with windows not being able to read the file system i cannot.

To read VMFS do i need special backup software running or have i missed someting ?

thanks for the help

Hi,

You will need to have VCB ( VMware consolidated backup) installed on this Windows machine , this will help you in backup.

Thanks,

Samir
