Is there no command line or anything you can use from the VC that will allow you to create a clone and overwrite an old one?
Currently VCB isn't compatible with our backup software, and we don't have money to purchase otherwise.
I've got scheduled tasks to clone my VM's, but I have to go in and manually delete the old ones before running them.
There has to be an easier way that I can automate this right?
No command in VC or single command from the service console to do this. You could do it from the command line with a simple script though and then schedule it with cron, script would rename original vmdk then vmkfstools -i www.phdvirtual.com
How does that work when you have multiple disks for a single VM?
Or do you just script it to copy each vmdk, the vmx, and the nvram file separately?
Yup get the script to cat vmx | grep vmdk or something then use that to build your vmdk list.
Check out ghettoVCB, sounds like it can help: http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-8760
