Hi,
I have created a VMWare 6.5.1 Image and trying to Install ESX 3.5 for testing purposes.
However, after ESX loads and I accept the EULA to start the installation, the installation fails.
Attached is the error I Get.
Is it possible to have ESX installed on a VMWare image?
Please advice.
rgds,
Shirad
Yes, it is possible. Take a look at http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-9000
Regarding your problem - create SCSI hard disk with LSI controller, not IDE.

also if you can get VMware workstation 7 that natively supports ESX installation...it says it supports ESX 4 but I think it should work with 3.5. In fact I installed - esx 3.5 on Vmware workstation 7...yes I installed it I have had any time to test it and check performance
xtravirt has a good document on installing ESX 3.5 on VMware workstation 6.5
