Invalid VM with Snapshots

Hi all

I have a big problem with a VM in my VI.

It is a VM with two Snapshots.

From one time to the other a VM changed status to invalid.

First I removed the VM from inventory and then added it back, but the VM are still invalid.

Then I rebooted the VI (VC 2.5 and ESX 3.5) removed and added the VM, but still invalid.

After this I tryed to add the VM to a Standalone ESX Server, but no chance.

So next step I think would be add the vmdk file in a new created VM.

But what happens with the Snapshots?

Are there any way to merge the Snapshots to the vmdk file even if the VM is not added to any ESX server?

Or have you any other idea to bring the VM back to life?

Thanks for answer

Peter

Ok, Problem is solved.

I tried many things found in this forum, but nothing helps.

So I started to delete files like .vmxf, .hlog and .nvram.

After this I tried to add the VM back to the VI. And wow, the VM is far away from invalid.

The Files I deleted where recreated automatically and the VM works fine.

Thanks, this worked for me too -- though I believe I was invalid without snapshots Smiley Wink

Hi All,

How did you add the VM back using VI? Did you have create a new virtual machine with new VXM (configuration file) and pointed to VMDK of the Invalid VM?

Thank you for your reply in advance,

Bora
