Installing ESX 3.5 on Workstation 7.1

Hello,

I have esx 3.5 running fine on my workstation 6.5 machine. But having trouble with 7.1.

I followed serveral online guides, but getting this error, see attached image file.

I have a Intel Xeon E5630 processor, I ran the CPU checker and it passed fine.

If I go into troubleshooing mode, I can get to the login prompt.

Any Ideas.

Thanks,

-Mike

Are you trying out with the machine type of ESX 4.0? or are you tweaking the vmx file?

I'm just editing the vmx file. With the monitor_control_restrict true

Try using a machine type of "ESX 4.0"

Found this post on the topic. Looks like the 6.5 steps should apply with a ESX 4 VM chosen.
